Online DSW Admissions

What Matters to Us?

New Orleans is a city of resilience, one committed to social justice. Here at Tulane University, we believe wholeheartedly in upholding the community spirit that keeps New Orleans moving forward. Tulane, in fact, lays claim to the distinction of having housed the first training program of social workers in the Deep South. We have had decades to build on our innovative, audacious beginning, and Newsweek recently named us one of the top 25 most service-minded schools. Our students are part of the reason why. Because we strive to maintain the high standard we established over a century ago, Tulane’s online Master of Social Work and Doctorate in Social Work programs are highly competitive. Below are program details and admissions requirements for each of these graduate programs.

The online DSW program was created for students who are:

  • Individualized — brings expertise and experience
  • Willing to commit free time to asynchronous work
  • Seasoned professionals looking to push the social work envelope, make an impact, and consult on a variety of subjects— less selling and more confirming this is the degree for the individual

Applicants to Tulane’s online DSW program must possess:

  • A master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited school
  • A minimum grade-point average of 3.3 in both undergraduate and graduate study
  • Three or more years of social service agency employment or the equivalent experience post-master’s
